Today was our 4th stop on the boundary bass club tournament series. We had 20 boats launch this morning from Pungo Ferry, after a 30 minute fog delay. It was a windy gray day on the river, but the fish were biting. There were plenty of fish caught, but the big girls were playing hard to get today.
When all was said and done Mark Ingram and Gabe Himmelwright ended up in first place with a nice 15.10 lb sack. Mark also had the big fish, a 5.53lb beauty. Not far behind was Steve Bailey, who finished with 11.14 lbs. His big fish weighed 4.54 lbs. The team of Dustin Alley and Stan Krason came in third with 10.43 lbs. We also had a drawing today, with the winner receiving a Gift Certificate to the best bait and tackle shop in the lower 48, Bob's Fishing Hole. That prize went to the father son team of Nate and Ethan Welch. I’d also like to thank a couple of people who helped us out yesterday. First, I’d like to thank Ronnie McLaughlin for helping out at the weigh in. It was awesome how he stepped in and really made it run smoothly. We didn’t ask him, he just volunteered and man it was much appreciated. I’d also like to thank Ken Testorff. Ken is a great guy who has been using his “West Neck Creek Ramblings” blog to promote and get out information for Boundary Bass Club. Ken always has great articles on fishing in this area. I highly recommend you check it out, you won’t be disappointed. Vabassinman.blogspot.com is where you will find him. Thanks to everyone who came today and congrats to the winners.
