Another tournament is in the books. With the weather forecast to be terrible on Sunday, we decided to move the tournament to Saturday. This is never ideal, but it worked out for us. We had 5 boats and ten anglers launch from waterlily under really good conditions. The wind wasn’t super cooperative, but the fish were biting. When the fish were brought to the scales, the father son team of Nathan and Ethan Welch took home the win. They had 5 fish for a total weight of 14.09 pounds. I heard that Ethan caught most of their fish. Congrats guys.
Bringing in todays big fish was Tim Clark. His fish weighed 4.53 pounds. I’d like to thank Jim Sumrell, and Nathan and Ethan Welch for helping me out at the weigh in. It has been another great tournament season, I hope that everyone is now ready for that spring season to start. Thanks again for fishing with us, and keep checking the site for updates and possible non winter tournaments.

You could not have asked for a more beautiful day to be fishing in January. We had 8 boats and 13 anglers take off from Waterlily this morning. The bite was good, but the quality fish were tough to come by. At the end of the day, the weights were tight.
Taking first place with 11.16 pounds was the team of Mark Ingram and Bob Clarkson. Right on their heals was Nathan Welch, who had 11.01 pounds. Nathan also had today’s big fish, a 4.21 North River beauty. Rusty Girard and Gabe H. finished 3rd with 10.58, and Vince Stuccio and Kevin Massie rounded out the top 4 with 10.50 pounds. I’d like to thank Rusty Girard , Jim Leavis and Kevin Massie for helping with the check in and weigh in. Congrats to Mark,Bob and Nathan on their wins. Blast off temperature was 36 degrees this morning as the 5 boats left Munden Point. By weigh in it was obvious that Russell Gammon and Richard Hall like the cold as they brought back 5 fish weighing a total of 15.66 pounds. Richard had today’s big fish, a 5.21 pound giant headed freak.
Finishing back a few pounds in second were Jim Sumrell and Gabe Himmelwright. According to Jim, Gabe was a great net man. Congrats to Richard and Russell on their win today. I’d also like to thank Jason Robinson, Randall Clark and Tommy Dewitt for coming out and fishing with us. It’s always great to see new faces and we hope to see more. Our next tournament is going to be on the North River on January 7th. As of right now we are planning to launch at Mutt and Jeff’s. We will have updates on that soon. Hope to see you on the 7th. We had a little bit of wind, and the temps were a bit lower than forecast, but we were able to hold our second event of the 22-23 season. We had 8 boats show up for blast off from Waterlily on the North River.
When all was said and done, the team of David Dozier and Richard Hall walked away with the victory. They ended up with 5 fish for 10.53 pounds, narrowly edging out Bob Clarkson who had 10.16 pounds. Bob did end up with the big fish prize for his Lunker 3.18 pound behemoth. Apparently the beast was caught in Broad Creek on a buzz frog. Check out the gallery page to see how everyone else did. Special thanks to Jim Leavis and Fisher Bryan for helping with the launch and weigh in! Our next tourney is going to be on December 18 at Pungo Ferry. We are going to expand the boundaries on this one. More info on that to come. Thanks again and we hope to see you at the next one. Well the weather did not do us any favors this morning. We had rain, wind and cold temps to start our first tournament of the 22-23 Boundary Bass Club winter series. 5 boats (10 anglers) showed up at Pungo Ferry despite the questionable conditions. At the end of what turned out to be a nice day on the water Rob Peppers and Don Carter returned to the launch with the winning bag.
They ended with 14.5 pounds anchored by a 4.49 kicker that was also big fish of the day. Just behind them was the team of Russel Gammon and Joe Derezinski. They had 12.7 pounds and a 4.20 big fish. Congrats to Rob and Don for once again finding the winning fish. I’d also like to thank Tim Clark and Don Carter who helped out at the weigh in. |
