We had another great tournament this past Sunday. Due to some last minute changes we decided to fish the North River. The weather cooperated, as did the fish.
We had a good turnout with 11 boats and 20 anglers. Here are the results. First place was John Lane and Russell Gammon. They had 3 fish for 12.50 pounds. John also had big fish with a 6.62 pound beauty. Since this is our first tournament of the new season, this was also the new big fish of the year. Go to the gallery to see last years big fish, which Jared caught on the Chick. 2nd place went to Ian Van Dyke and Larry Haywood (again). They finished with 3 fish for 12.37 pounds. Their big fish weighed 4.49 lbs. Third went to the team of Ray Allen Sr. and Kevin Phillips. They had 3 fish for 10.53 lbs including a 5.49 lb pig. Fourth place went to David Dozier and Gabe Himmelwright with 3 fish for 8.66 lbs. Fifth place was Syd Ryan who had 3 fish for 8.31 lbs. 6th place was Raymond Allen and Tim Clark with 3 for 8.22 lbs. In 7th place were Richard Hall and Zach Whitt with 3 fish for 7.48 pounds. 8th place went to Jim Sumrell and Cathy Brandt with 6.08 lbs. Those that did not weigh: James Baker, Justin and Fisher, and Zack Clark and Dave Keisel. As always thanks to everyone who came out, and congrats to John and Russell on the win. The tournament took place on the Chickahominy River on Sunday, and it was a great day.
The bite was tough, but Jared Allbritten and Jeremy Gatewood figured em out. Next time they call and say they have a flat tire, Im going to tell them to stay home because they flat out caught em. We had 12 boats and 23 anglers. It was a bit chilly but the sun came out and it ended up being a beautiful day on the Chick. Jarrod and Jeremy finished first with 3 fish for 13.26 lbs. This included Jarrod's 6.41 toad, that rumor has it came on a frog in the lilly pads. 2nd place went to locals Ray Allen Sr. and Kevin Phillips with 3 fish for 10.05 lbs. Their big fish weighed 4 lbs. Third place was Ian VanDyke and Larry Haywood who had 3 for 9.26 lbs. They also had a 4.28lb beast. In fourth place was Zach Clark and Gabe Himmelwright with 6.77 lbs. 5th place went to Dustin Alley and Joey Derezinski with 2 fish for 4.7 lbs. In 6th was Jeff Valentin and Moose Wells with 2 fish for 4.65 lbs. 7th went to Fisher Bryan and Lauren Mac with 1 fish for 1.54 lbs. 8th place was Zachary and Larry Whitt with 1 fish for 1.39lbs. Those that did not weigh: Mark Ingram and Bob Clarkson, Richard Hall and Joe Derezinski, Jim Sumrell and Cathy Brandt, and Scott Alley. It was a tough day on the river, but I had a blast. Here are the results: First place were Darrell and Dylan Kidd. They had 3 fish for 10.60 pounds. Darrell also had today’s big fish, a 5.81 lb pig. This is also our new big fish for the club. Congrats to Darrell and Dylan. Larry Haywood and Ian Van Dyke finished 2nd with 7.72 lbs. Ian had their big fish, a nice 3.86. Bob Clarkson finished third with 3 fish for 5.51 lbs. Fourth was Mark Ingram, who finished with 3 fish for 5.36 lbs. Fred Crawford and Gabe Himmelwright had 5.29 lbs in 5th. David Dozier had 5.27 in 6th place. Raymond Allen and Tim Clark finished 7th with 5.15. 8th place went to Richard Woods, who had 2 fish for 4.04lbs. Dustin Alley finished ninth with 2.49 lbs. Unfortunately it was a small fish day, the big girls had their mouths closed. We had 13 boats and 20 anglers. Here are the results: First place was Ian Van Dyke and Larry Haywood with 3 for 7.26. Their big fish 3.50. 2nd place and only 1 oz behind was David Dozier with 3 for 7.25. Amazingly Jim Sumrell and Cathy Brandt had 3 for 7.24. Finishing fourth was Bob Clarkson with 6.89. Richard Hall and Joe Derezinski had 5.52 in 5th. Tied in 6th with 5.32 lbs were Joe Glazebrook with Mike Evans, and Gabe Himmelwright. Gabe also had tourney big fish 3.98 lbs. 7th place went to James and Grayson Baker 5.28. 8th was Dustin Alley and Joey Derezinski with 4.57, Dustin caught their big fish 3.26lbs. 9th was Raymond Allen and Tim Clark with 4.41. Mark Ingram finished 10th with 3 lbs. 11th was Richard Woods with 1.88 and 12th was Scott Alley with 1.52. Congrats again to Larry and Ian. Everyone met at Mutt and Jeff’s on the North River for some breakfast, and then we launched at 7:45. Conditions were not ideal, but the fish didn’t seem to mind.
We had 7 boats and 11 anglers. Joe Derezinski and Richard Hall finished in first place with 3 fish for 11.01 lbs. Joe also had today’s big fish, a nice 5.20. Second place was Gabe Himmelwright and Tim Clark with 8.79 pounds. Larry Haywood and Ian VanDyke finished 3rd with 7.02 pounds. Fourth place was Jim Sumrell with 3 fish for 6.44 pounds. David Dozier finished 5th with 4.78 and Zach Clarke had 2 fish for 3 pounds. Dustin Alley and Joe Derezinski had engine troubles and did not weigh. We are switching to winter rules: 3 fish limit and 8:00 blast off. To say it was windy would be an understatement but we did have 7 boats (9 anglers) who showed up. The conditions were not ideal and the bite was tough. Ray Allen and Tim Clark took first place (2 in a row) with 3 fish for 7.96 pounds. Ray also had today’s big fish 3.86 lbs. Mark Ingram took second place with 3 for 6.90 lbs. Third place was David Dozier with 3 for 6.05 lbs. Gabe Himmelwright had 3 for 5.73 lbs. Darrell and Dylan Kidd took fifth with 2 fish for 4.53 lbs. Their big fish was 3.48 lbs. Larry Haywood and Dustin Alley did not weigh. Thanks again to everyone who came out. Check the website for updates and new tournament dates. Today's tournament was held on the North Landing River. We launched at Pungo Ferry and there were 4 boats with 5 anglers. First place was Ray Allen and Tim Clark with 5 fish for 11.60 pounds. Mark Ingram took 2nd place with 5 fish for 11.33. Mark also had today's big fish at 3.56 pounds. Gabe Himmelwright had five for 7.47 pounds. Dustin Alley finished fourth with 4 for 6.58 pounds. Plenty of fish were caught but the big ones weren't playing today. Congrats to Tim and Ray for figuring out how to get those better fish. I also wanted to thank Mark Ingram for running the weigh in today. We will be holding another tournament in October so keep an eye on the website for updates.
The September 10th tournament was held at bobs fishing hole in Chesapeake. With high water and the fish not being too cooperative, here are the results.
There were 6 boats and 9 anglers. Raymond Allen and Justin Francis had 3 fish for 5.03 lbs. Turns out that top water is still working in Carolina. 2nd place was Chris Carley and David Noel with 3 fish for 4.72 lbs. David had the big fish with a nice 2.29. Larry Haywood had 2 fish for 3.51 lbs. Gabe Himmelwright had 1 fish for 1.72 lbs. Those that did not weigh Darrel Kidd, Tim Clark and Nick Cluney. As always thanks to everyone who came out and thanks to James for hosting. Tonight was the third tournament for the Boundary Bass Club.
It tookplace at Bobs and the bite was to say the least tough. We had 7 boats and 12 anglers. The water was very low as were the number of fish that were caught. Tonight’s winners were Mark Ingram and Gabe Himmelwright with 3 fish for 6.09 lbs. They also had tonight’s bigfish, a 3.49 caught on a frog in the duckweed. Colton Wynne and Noah Kucznski finished 2nd with 3 fish for 5.19 lbs. Dustin Alley took third with 1.99 lbs. Fourth place went to Chris Carley and Gary Disharoon with 1.37 lbs. James and Dennis Baker, David Dozier and Richard Hall, and Larry Haywood did not weigh. Thanks to everyone who came out tonight and a big thanks to James for hosting the tournament. It was a pretty tough bite for most tonight, but not for Darrell Kidd who had 5 fish for 10.12 lbs. He also had tonight’s big fish at 4.98 lbs. Dustin Alley and Dylan Powell finished second with 7.49 including a nice 4.80. Tim Clark took third with 4.96. Fourth place was Gabe with 4.92. 5th place were brothers Christopher and Brandon Carley with 3.77 lbs. Larry Haywood finished
