The fifth tournament of the Boundary Bass Club's location was the Pasquotank River. We only had 5 boats, because everyone else was smart. We launched at 8:00 from waterfront park in Elizabeth City. Temperature at launch was 26 degrees. Needless to say it was cold. Mark Ingram and Gabe Himmelwright lucked into a limit to take first place. They ended with 5 fish for 11.46 pounds. They also had today’s big fish which weighed 2.84 pounds. Dustin Alley and Joey Derezinski finished second with 4.19 pounds. It was too cold to take pics we just wanted to leave.

Today was our 4th stop on the boundary bass club tournament series. We had 20 boats launch this morning from Pungo Ferry, after a 30 minute fog delay. It was a windy gray day on the river, but the fish were biting. There were plenty of fish caught, but the big girls were playing hard to get today.
When all was said and done Mark Ingram and Gabe Himmelwright ended up in first place with a nice 15.10 lb sack. Mark also had the big fish, a 5.53lb beauty. Not far behind was Steve Bailey, who finished with 11.14 lbs. His big fish weighed 4.54 lbs. The team of Dustin Alley and Stan Krason came in third with 10.43 lbs. We also had a drawing today, with the winner receiving a Gift Certificate to the best bait and tackle shop in the lower 48, Bob's Fishing Hole. That prize went to the father son team of Nate and Ethan Welch. I’d also like to thank a couple of people who helped us out yesterday. First, I’d like to thank Ronnie McLaughlin for helping out at the weigh in. It was awesome how he stepped in and really made it run smoothly. We didn’t ask him, he just volunteered and man it was much appreciated. I’d also like to thank Ken Testorff. Ken is a great guy who has been using his “West Neck Creek Ramblings” blog to promote and get out information for Boundary Bass Club. Ken always has great articles on fishing in this area. I highly recommend you check it out, you won’t be disappointed. Vabassinman.blogspot.com is where you will find him. Thanks to everyone who came today and congrats to the winners. It was a beautiful day on the North River for the third tournament of the 2021 series. We left the launch at 8:00am from Waterlily. When all was said and done, David Dozier and Nelson Anderson brought in the heaviest bag and took first place.
They had 5 fish for 11.58 pounds. Just behind them were Jim Leavis and Ken Matthias with 11.40 pounds. Today's big fish was caught by Vince Stuccio, a 5.47 pound stud. Great job guys. I would also like to thank James Calhoun, Mark Ingram and Dustin Alley for handling the weigh in as well as checking live wells and helping me run the tournament. Check out pics in the Gallery. It was a bit chilly this morning and i'm pretty sure a few guys hit the snooze button. That being said there were 12 boats that braved the elements to fish the 2nd Boundary Bass Tournament of 2021. We launched at 8am from Pungo Ferry on the North Landing River. At Weigh in it was obvious to see that there was a decent bite.
Chris Napier weighed in 21.31 pounds and took first place. I'm not joking when I say that the table sagged when his fish hit the scale. His big fish was 5.4 pounds. David Dozier and Nelson Anderson finished 2nd with a solid 15.93 bag. The big fish of the day came from Wayne Hayes, a 6.34 pound tank. Along with his partner, Ken Testorff, they weighed in 15.75 pounds. Honorable mention also goes to Sid Ryan who brought a 5.55 lb. beauty to the scales. As always, Mark Ingram was running the scales, thanks Mark. Visit the Gallery for pics from the day. Today was the first tournament of the new Boundary Bass Club Winter Series. It took place on the North River. We had 14 boats with 25 anglers. The water was high, and the conditions were not ideal. The wind picked up throughout the day, which made for some bumpy rides. A few guys are looking to replace some broken rods after today. That being said, there were some fish biting.
Mark Ingram and Gabe Himmelwright were able to put together a 16.08 lb bag to claim first. Mark caught their big fish, a 5.13 pound beauty. David Dozier and Richard Hall finished 2nd with 14.59. The big fish of the tournament went to Rob Peppers. He landed an incredible 7.49 pound beast. Go to the gallery and you’ll see what we mean. Nice job, Rob. The full results are posted below. We would also like to thank a few people for helping us get this season started off so positively. Mark Ingram not only helped set up registration and acted as weigh master, but he also dropped in or helped launch half of the field this morning. We’d also like to thank Bob Clarkson and Josh Fenneman for helping with the weigh in. Thanks for everyone who came out today. We greatly appreciate it and are looking forward to seeing everyone on 11-20-21 at Pungo Ferry (North Landing River). We will be launching at 8:00 am from now on. Registration will close at 7:30am (30 minutes prior to launch). |
